group discussion

In my group discussion today Gite announced that Adam has agreed to be the father figure of the shoot. We also discussed prospects to create a script as we think that it would be a good idea for the day as we can organize our actors better. Jana also announced that she was turning 18 soon which meant there was the possibility of being able to shoot with a drone within solely the group.

However, if implications still exist we will be proceeding with our initial idea of duel control.

group catch up

Today my group and I discussed what replies we have had in regards of casting, I went and enquired Amelie to see if she was available for the shoot day she said she was available which allowed for the group to cast her as the asylum girl. Today we also discussed the use of the drone, after discussing it through we realized there may be the possibility that we would be unable to use a drone one reason for this was due to the fact the front of Peaslake had multiple minivans parked in front which would mean that the shot could be ruined and may lead the audience to not grasp the idea that Peaslake is meant to be viewed as a family home, this shot, therefore, would mess with the concept of the film. I suggested other methods in which we could use a drone for an aerial shot such as dolly tracking the car as the car comes up the driveway then possibly bringing the drone round from the back, therefore, missing the buses that could obstruct the shot. I also discussed the idea that we follow the car up the road with a drone shot then switch to a poly tracking shot of the car pulling into the driveway, which would have been another way to include more types of shots and avoid including the buses. As a group, we decided that both of these ideas could be an option in exchanging our originally planned shot. We went over the idea of duel control on the drone to verify with Adam that this was an option we were able to do, due to the new laws in place on drones that you must be licensed and must be over eighteen it was decided that we will require more time to think over this idea.

This storyboard was done by Jana

This storyboard was sketched by Jana to show the sequence of each shot to make it easier on the day of filming, not a finalized storyboard.

group catch up

Today my group picked up where we left off, we discussed who we wanted for casting and started requesting people to be a part of our shoot. We discussed how we were going to take some of our shots, in particular, our establishing shot of the mental asylum / Peaslake, we decided it will need to be a drone shot so I decided to go around and ask who would allow us to borrow their drone, thankfully one student had a drone license and was able to say that we could duel control, this meant that one of us can control the camera and the guy who owns the drone could fly it. We went off and each requested certain people to be our main actors for the Dad, in the end, we casted Adam, For the mother we cast Claire, we have not received a response about the kids as of now, and finally, as the asylum girl, we casted  Amelie. As our opening sequence is going to include dialogue we decided it would most likely be beneficial to create a script for ease.
