Task 5

 1. Props

2.Costume

3. Location

Questions to address

  •  What do you need?
  • What have you done to organize this? (Shopped online etc.)
  • Why have you made these choices? How do these reflect the genre and tone of your opening sequence?
Props :
What do we need?

Boxes - We decided to set the tone for our piece as well as give context we were going to require boxes to show that they are moving into a new house together, we have decided that we will use the boxes already available in the house as we can just place them around and they don't need to be opened which means it is a minimal hassle and time wasting.

Family car - We need a family for our opening tracking shot of the car coming up the road, we decided it needs to be family size to show that there are kids and that, it is a family moving in. This idea cannot be done with a bus or a sports car as this takes away the family feel of the shot. This is widely accessible from any teacher, we believe that we can use Adams considering that he is acting as the father in this scenario.

Sofas/furniture - We need to place furniture around including mainly a sofa and a wardrobe so that the children have places to hide in and around the house, this would also allow the tone of settling in and moving in. The furniture will partly be covered by sheets to conserve the theme of moving in.

White sheets - Widely accessible in the boarding house and from the art department when my group fully returns back to school we will be able to request to borrow the sheets available. The sheets will be used to convey that the house is being moved into and will cover the furniture of the house.

We have made these choices as they are simple and create the impression that a family is moving into the house which sticks with the storyline of our horror, moving into a new house also will give that eery feeling that is normally lacking.

Costumes:

asylum girl - The asylum girl will be wearing a broken restraining jacket, to convey that she used to be in an asylum ward. The asylum girl will also be having dark make-up around her eyes to convey a lack of sleep and it will make her look paler which will suggest that she is almost dead. Restraining jacket will need to be ordered which will be a discussion as soon as my group is together most likely we will order it from Ali express, and the makeup I have so we will be able to use that.

Father -  Father will be wearing very casual clothing, which will be organized by Adam, this will portray that the family is normal and there is nothing suspicious about them.

Mother- Mother will also be wearing casual clothing, as she is moving in and is with her family. Having calm clothing options will convey that she is also normal and average and that there is nothing off about her. This will be organized by Clare.

children -  Children will be able to wear casual clothing as well as this shows that they are normal/ average and there is nothing to be suspicious of, the more innocent the clothing the better. This will be organized by the parents of the kids.

Location:
The location this will be shot in will be Peaslake house and Peaslake town, this is due to the fact that Peaslake is tucked away and can have the impression that it is in the middle of nowhere which sets a creepy tone as from stereotypical horror it is always a bad sign if there is a building in the middle of nowhere. Peaslake town will only be used to follow the car up the road. To organize this we got permission from our head of house being Adam. Peaslake house is a great location as the building itself carries the rumor by the students that it used to be a mental asylum or hospital none of which are true apparently by the idea is already presented in peoples minds which adds to the effect of the location.
